Stunned Silence

My lips locked in quite an odd, odd way... For once I stood there silent, For I knew not what to say My eyes seemed subversive, This could not be for real, My mind, usually swift and responsive, Seems to have been now morphed into oatmeal... This is not the world I was born to, Not even the same universe, And for this reality so suddenly thrust upon me, Was nothing but a curse I needn't explain the sight Unleashed before my eyes, It's happened to most everyone, And in spite of all their lies... The bleak nature of life Struck the deepest chord, And on this long lived trip I wished I was not aboard.
