Struggle

Have you ever watched the flame of hope, dance in the wind Holding on to its last breath, before the end Wanting to cradle it, and tell it, it’s okay But instead you watch it dwindle in its own misery Smothering the fire, you can feel how much it burns Till at last the fire’s out, and there’s no where to return The pain will cease to linger, and the scars will start to fade But those feelings, they hold on to memory

And those memories linger as a reminder that we were alive with hope, ambition, and fire. Life is indeed a struggle. Congratulations on a fine poem, Avery!
