Robert J. Lindley, April 2nd, 2002
Rhyme, (Early dawn, Breakfast speaks, Life's foibles)...

Note: Decided to move up from my much older 70's poetry with this one, written in 2002, with a look back at my youth, my mistakes and let
poet's pen and imagination run rampant. I hope you may find this one has some merit and illustrates that life is never perfect for anybody.

Strong Coffee Ate A Silver Spoon Strong coffee ate a silver spoon Blind feline lapped up the spilled milk Sweet relief cannot come too soon I slept on sheets of finest silk Gone such dreams with vanishing moon Dry toast from molded bread was made Served with the world's gold gilded lies Sides of temptations, well displayed Seeds of regrets in cherry pies I, a blind jackass, sorely brayed Eggs were scrambled while feeling pain Table sighed, "Why am I left bare?" Except for heartache's tenured stain and foolish pride that placed it there I hear cries in horrid nightmares Plum jam scooped from a broken jar Morn's mirror showed my old hurts bludgeoned by love's iron bar Stove hissed at me, "Your just desserts!" I deserved each deeply etched scar Robert J. Lindley, April 2nd, 2002 Rhyme, (Early dawn, Breakfast speaks, Life's foibles)...

Great use of words to describe your emotions in a deep and emotive way, many poets do not have the vocabulary and thought process like you do my friend..

My dear friend, I just love the strong, symbolic and creative imagery of anguish in your poem. The emotions run deep in this vivid, vibrant and very artistically expressed piece, Robert. Compelling and brilliantly executed poetry, another polished gem for your jeweled crown. Warmest wishes always, my wonderful friend.. ~Susan

Your sorrow-filled words are mourning thoughts, Robert. Mingling them among ruined breakfast food preparation heightens the tragic seriousness of the situation.
