She thought she was smart Never leaving a trail Soon this ride she’s on Would most likely derail For the charm held the key That she had not seen The giver of the charm Would soon make the scene The detective had found What store made the charm The jeweler made one That was cause for alarm Sold to a young man Almost a year before With credit it was paid Now to even the score The name on the slip John Tompkins it said Was all the he needed The detective then fled Then back to the station At the computer he sat To find Mr Tompkins To find him at that It appeared he’s in town Address not too far So he ran from the station And went to his car
