One of the hardest days of my life Was when I became “a nice man” It was a terrible day Because I had no plan That my love was slipping from me And I was no longer who I used to be Dementia Ripped the memory From her mind That I was her son Now I was just somebody who was kind No longer to her was I me Her eyes were open But her mind was to blind to see One of the hardest days for me Being unable to set her free Just a “nice man” With a spiritual plea Just one more day That she’ll remember me Eric (and sometimes not)
