Stopping Time

Encased in this flesh I sense time moving slow Beyond my eye sight life's tentacles flow Below a city appears its lights glow To hear every sound, some I'll never know Under the sky clouds quietly move A heart alone when the night turns blue I'll taste warm droplets when the rains pass through and breathe in earth's scents that are fresh and new To see the white flowers fill meadow green I'll lay beneath the moon on this hill pristine and fill my sad eyes with reflection seen Splayed on white flowers from the moonlite's sheen I'll watch in silence stars dance their show Encased in this flesh, I sense time moving slow

When we're feeling sad, stepping outside ourselves and our problems by enjoying nature's bounty is good for the soul, my friend. A beautiful poem, much like a sonnet. I especially enjoyed the way you described seeing the city below as watching "life's tentacles flow." A very creative and appropriate metaphor! Love, Carolyn

I guess I'd call this piece morose..I do love it though, and many times I would lay on that mountain top and feel the same way. BG
