Steamy Dreams

Remember when the ground beneath your feet would tremble? Sending shivers from your toes Right up to your nose? That feeling you got looking over the wall, Up on your tip toes to make you so tall. That feeling of sheer intrepidation, As you looked beyond and saw the station? Then came the moment you were waiting for, As the train burst out of the tunnels maw. Covering you from head to foot, In glorious steam and sticky soot. Oh! The days of steam are now gone, But all of your dreams still linger on. © Dave Timperley 26/11/2018
