Static

I walked out, and that was all. I’d leave a note but you’d never call; Even then, I felt myself stall. I left the sentiment at home; I swear I should’ve known. The lies we tell ourselves when their cover is blown; You can’t pick up the phone. There was someone else while you left me alone; She calls my name, and I let you go. The silence died on its own. You can leave a message at the tone.
