Bright beautiful colors,
brilliant, not halfway.
That is the fair,
the beautiful fair.
It is in the air...
The smells of sweet potatoes,
dipped in chocolate and fried,
until someone cried.
Fruits and nuts are king.
The cows and bulls,
the judges...no fools,
first place to the chickens.
They are the most accommodating,
regardless of color, or accent.
Ferris wheels,
and fast-moving rides,
that hide the agenda of the skeptics,
tired of cleaning up, the party.
The ones that should have stayed home,
and can not ever be left alone,
as they fall apart,
when placed upon the apple cart.
A New Year,
to give us new numbers,
for our fancy calendars.
While some take things away,
as they can, to lead all astray.
Let us remember the fun,
we all had, as one,
in the sun of a new day,
a new way,
to lift up each other,
and give back,
more than we take,
in the wake,
of hope itself.
