Starlight

They say the light shining from the outlying star Has been streaming for eons, it's coming so far. The star that has sent it may no longer be there. My mind can't comprehend that light comes from nowhere. The astrologers tell us, so it must be so, There's much more to the universe than we now know. I just know what my senses tell me and they say The star still shines from there, though it's far, far away. As my heart still refutes what they tell me is true, You've been taken away and the love that we knew Is over and now I must go on with a life That is empty of meaning if I'm not your wife. As the lovely light tells me the star is still there So my love burning brightly assures me you're near. By: Joyce Johnson Posted for Laura's contestwon 8th

Joyce, Lost love hurts... a LOT! But time and distance can make the pain die, like a distant star without its sparkle. A remnant remains, but it no longer brightly survives. Excellent entry into the contest. Love to you. Dane Ann

This is quite thought-provoking, Joyce. Even though my Mom and Dad are gone, I feel their love still shining down on me as if from a distant star that went nova too soon. It's very sad when you lose a love, especially the special bond you shared with a spouse, but the impact will stay with you forever. Outstanding poem! Love, Carolyn
