Spring In Winter

Oh fragrant blossom, too early beginning to bloom, Your beauty so exquisite will rapture us soon, Fooled by temperatures so high, Sun streaming rays from the sky, Your joyous presence premature, without rain only doom. And the children who sing and play by your side, Bring a smile to each blossom, each twig, with pride, Your petals wondrously open one at a time, Listen carefully, like church bells that chime, Their vivid lilac colour is impossible to ignore or hide!

Hi Line, I don't often write about nature, although I love the wild and visiting our Kruger National Park, but our rose and lavender bushes in our garden inspired me - love writing adventure and fantasy. Hugs, Jennifer.

Hi Jennifer, an excellent poem from your pen. It is so easy to picture the visions your words create. Such beauty lies at their heart. You have created another wonderful song. Yet it does bring a sadness. It shows what we are doing to the world in which we live. I love the content. Have a wonderful monday. Hugs....Mike. XX

Polluting it, destroying it, bombing it and so much more, you are so right Mike and God gave and created this wondrous planet for us, each flower, each tree, each ocean, each river, mountains, I could go on forever, mankind has lost its respect for mother earth! Very sad. Thank-you for an awesome comment my friend. Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

So lovely I could smell the blooms. Your poem reminded me that I don't want summer to end - fall is okay but I think I've had enough winter in my life, but what cha gonna do? Great lines, Jenny - an absolute joy to read. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

Hi Lindsay, being in the Southern hemisphere we get the same climatic conditions, that is why we are both so bush friendly, we write about the animals, and birds and the barbecues all in the same season. A great many South Africans have immigrated to Australia, we nearly did, (wish we had) but then my father got a wonderful opportunity in South africa, and here we are! Thank-you for enjoying my Spring in Winter, hope your Spring starts soon, Lindsay, Hugs, Jennifer

So refreshing to read nature poem in a Limerick form. I will take the delight of spring in winter every time, as you so eloquently describe..as children frolic..blossoms smile. Nicely done..a beautiful theme, Jennifer.

Hi Joseph, sorry only coming back to you now but was really sick with a gastro attack last week - climate is changing worldwide and not in our lifetime but in the next generation, the situation will become somewhat formidable. Thank-you for your comment Joseph and always so lovely to have you visit - look forward to it. Hugs, Jennifer.
