Spring Green
Petrichor perfumes the air,
storm violence unleashed;
the force of raindrops on the ground,
the heat of lightning in the street
cleanse earth’s stagnant atmosphere
and primal fragrance is released.
The greens of spring are radiant,
polished malachite and peridot;
each tree dons a gemstone crown,
a reigning verdant king or queen,
country and urban potentates,
with flower followers at their feet.
