Spring Colors

Sun shining on a spring day Grass spent months under winter’s snow Reaching for the sky Hoping for that one last sunbeam Desiring a moment of warmth Streams covered with ice Thaw into distant rivers Feeding fields as they flow by Plants and trees spread into life Showing a beauty hidden by the icy cold Flowers burst through the ground Hues and tints not remembered Brought back to the imagination Turning empty hillsides into palettes Painted by brushes created at the start of time The colors grow and fade As the time of summer comes and goes And once again The beauty and color of life Hides beneath a white blanket Waiting for that one moment For the sun to return on another spring day
