Special Like You
As I lay down, upon the grass,
To watch the stars appear,
The first I saw, star light, star bright,
For wishing on, it seemed so clear.
I went to wish, but then another,
Peeked out from the darkening sky.
A dozen stars, glowing dimly,
Then hundreds, thousands shining by.
As darkness fell, they shone more brightly,
Until the first, I lost completely.
That’s when I knew, up in the heavens,
Each star was one among the millions.
So, let your light shine, shine on through,
No-one’s special quite like you.
Let your light shine, shine on through
No-one’s special quite like you.
As darkness crept . . . over me,
I nodded off; this was my dream,
I became a star, among the stars
And saw what only stars can see.
All earth’s people, shone with light,
Each one special, on this night,
Each one different, each unique,
Then I awoke these words to speak.
If I am special . . . so are you,
Find your bliss . . . what YOU can do.
Short or tall . . . big or small,
Doesn’t matter much at all.
Doesn’t matter much at all.
