Spacin' Out In Space Time
A plastic bag blows down the street
Like an artificial tumbleweed it floats by in my brain
And I can sense the energy that created it
Protons shift into neutrons that melt into electrons
I am a witness to the glory of the invisible
It glitters in my brain and glows like a neon sign
And I am reminded of something a teacher once told me
Nothing is solid
At the most basic level of existence
All matter melts into an oscillating jelly of energy
Standing under my umbrella on a rainy day
I watch the hydrogen and oxygen molecules trickle down its surface and melt into
the pavement
I start to think about the intricate balance of energy and mass that must exist
In order to make all of this possible
The weight of it collapses my brain
And I am reminded of a rubix cube
The solution is just out of reach
But it’s there
