Southern Song
Was a daughter of a man
took his life by his own hand
said he left her way too young
when he went and bought that gun.
Was a brother of this girl
lost his mind, his brain unfurled
when his momma took her life
he took his, too, but with a knife.
Now she dance the dance of pain
she know how folks goes insane,
she know why folks dies alone,
brick by brick an' stone by stone.
Rock 'a bye baby, don't you weep,
surrender now to dreamless sleep,
your box of treasures sure be safe
motherless, fatherless, pitiful waif.
