South African Christmas

Church in the morning to thank God for His kindness Communion with family and friends are priceless Love and laughter with everyone near, Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year. Rainbows of lights a welcome display Trimmings and tinsel a dazzling array All part of the decor that helps spread the cheer, Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year. The yummy aroma of food in preparation Chicken, cold meats and salad makes a great combination, With peppermint fridge tart and homemade ginger beer Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year. The white Christmas scene you may not find, A warm summer's day comes to mind A gathering under trees would never be ***** Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year. So blessed we are to be together Enjoying this day in fair weather Without Rudolph the red nose reindeer, Welcome to my holiday home at this special time of year. We will end off the day with a birthday cake on a tray, Just a little reminder of my “special” day Extra indulgence with everyone near Welcome to my home at this special time of year… © All Rights Reserved

Sounds like someone gets off easily with buying one gift for two special days, Wilma. If it is your birthday, then let me at least say "Happy Birthday!" Now I can say congrats on your win in the contest. Dan C

Wilma, was this the one you wanted me to see? Let me know if I missed any others. I really like what you did with that last line. LInda's getting too many good poems in this contest of hers. I don't have any idea how she will judge this one. I just loved the fact that YOUR Xmas is NOT snowy. I wish I were there with you. LUv, Andrea

Wilma, this is just the way it is in Jamaica. I have not spent Christmas there for a long time, but hope to rectify that soon. When you are used to Christmas in the tropics, there is nothing that feels just the same anywhere else. Beautiful write and a sure winner. Blessings Joy (Jew)

Although snow adds ambiance to the Christmas setting, you have all the ingredients to celebrate the holiday, Wilma. Faith, friendship and loving hearts are most important. A great entry for the contest, dear friend, and I wish you success! Thank you for sharing more of your culture with us. Blessings and peace, Carolyn
