Soulmendilian
Soulmendilian
Poem
Lionel Derbyshire
The field is far away with mystery bounce in emerald hills
My bonny maiden Catherine captive in a stadium.
O we come from ove seas and over hills in agony panting faintly to rescue our bonny trophy Catherine.
My Captain Indonesia and I in full battle cry.
A brave mistake ..
There waits a snarling dragon at the crease we haste to stump his release.
Catherine O you lass a beauty locked up there in a glass cage.
Precious wait on us.
The cricket weather is fine and this pitch we know.
We have the bark .. The team is armed ..
Soulmendilian my old cricket bat ..
Let us bat on hard
Don't let me down.
Let us fight back hard.
Their army wears black cap.
First in they fly us high with big six's and four's over all boundary's.
Captain Indonesia and I we will not give in.
Oy our fielding ready to stump their cocks ready for a catch or bowl.
The run-up is narrow and the loop is spun in air ..
The dragon and his bat is confused.
The bails yow fly atop the stumps his bat did not hit the big strike.
Eleven in eleven out they fill us out afterwards.
O Catherine trophy we came to fetch you and could not get you.
Yet we slayed the dragon.
Sure , sore and sorry we did not bat too many the six.
We battered amnesia.
Our souls are not mended.
And our ashes will be cremated.
Indonesia my captain and I.
Soulmendilian.. my cricket bat ..
It's time to retire.
