Sore Simplicity
For the first time in months I feel simply
Alone.
Cut off from you like a dying branch from a tree.
A taut elastic stretched just too far suddenly
Frays,
Snaps,
Hangs loose.
I don’t want to acknowledge the day,
Please, it can leave me well alone,
But it won’t.
Its incessant hours drag me backwards through the truth
And I know its intentions are good…
But I just wish it would stop.
I ripped my heart right out so it could be the Sun,
I curled up tight, so small and pale, to be the Moon,
My fists thrashing walls were explosions of stars…
I hate that this Universe is lacking you entirely.
