For Regina Mcintosh's Quatrain contest.

Decasyllabic quatrain is a poetic form in which each stanza consists of four lines of ten syllables each, usually with a rhyme scheme of AABB or ABAB.

I do not normally write poem about God or religion.  I like to keep my poery and religiion separate.  I did not know what theme to use for this form, as I have written too much about winter and love recently..

My organisation has gone through a massive restructure.  On Friday we were all having a bit of a laugh in the office.  Despite the doom and gloom.  People were asking each other who their new boss/team leader will be... I am a bit of loose cannon at work and although quite senior, I never behave like I am, always laughing and joking around.  One of my colleagues turned to me and asked who my boss would be - to which i pointed fingers from both my hands into the air... To which they all burst out laughing (at my gesture as they were not expecting it) as I told them, only my creator is the boss of me...

'From him I come and to him I shall return...'

That inspired this poem, I guess..

When days reflect like the veil of nightfall, once bright eyes, like somber stars fail to glow. World looks so big, but your soul feels so small, as deep sighs mimic heartbeats breathing slow. Before the storm absorbs my spirit's hope, I search beyond weeping shadows of clouds, counting my blessings to help weak mind cope. Faith always finds me when I'm lost in crowds. In times when I'm fragile like butterflies, words from scholars and scriptures set me free. Soothing chords from angelic lullabies, help fight the voices that cause misery.

A great poem about the struggle with inner darkness and finding solace in faith and comforting words during times of emotional vulnerability. The emotional turmoil and their journey towards finding peace and strength. You use rich and evocative language to convey your emotions. The imagery of "bright eyes"weeping shadows of clouds" creates a vivid picture of the inner turmoil. The use of metaphors such as "fragile like butterflies" and "voices that cause misery" adds depth to your poem.

This is inspiring indeed.. I don't know why I feel.I can't really write well about faith or anything like that.. but I sure love to read words that stir something inside of me or my faith gets stronger. That last stanza is great.. also loved your caption for the poem or inspiration behind it! We shall be answerable to the boss above us! Brilliant write my brother! Thank you for sharing!

Everyone is going to get judged in the end, and only answering to one boss might be the way to eternal peace.

Help fight the voices that cauze misery. You did this one so seamlessly dear silent one. I absolutely loved it. From the rhymes to the depth and how it can resonate with readers truly is impressive. I felt especially “ Before the storm absorbs my spirit's hope, I search beyond weeping shadows of clouds,“ quite metaphorical for real life and how befor reality hits the fan, you search for light beyond those that cause grief! I can sense a strong soul through your well articulated lines! I think g

an inspirational and uplifting poem, Silent One. I liked 'your soul feels so small,' and 'fragile like butterflies.' . I appreciate your candid response when your colleague asked who your boss would be. Your response was classic! I worked for a principal years ago who asked me point blank, "I thought you were perfect; you're not. Why is that?" My curt, comeback response was, 'the last time I looked only Jesus was perfect." Surprised myself, for I keep my religion and spirituality private.

“When I’m fragile like butterflies” - a wonderful way of describing how life’s uncertainties and whims can reduce us to feeling unable to cope with it all. So glad to have you back SO. As a son of the Manse, I can readily relate to all the “angelic lullabies” that ease me through the day - and night.
