Sonnet On a 5-5-'55 Guy

The fifth day of the fifth month of the year: For me this is no ordinary day. As quickly as spring blossoms, it is here and just as quickly, May 5th fades away. Most likely it will not look different from the other days that make up Merry May, but it’s a time I’m likely to become a bit nostalgic, letting my thoughts stray. . . to someone in my past. For all I know he could be dead, forever gone from me! I cannot think of that. It can’t be so. It has to be that he's in revelry! I’ll picture him May 5th as I always do - becoming that same age I’ll soon be too. By Andrea Dietrich 5/3/12 For Carol Brown's Memories of May Poetry Contest

I take it he never saw this... wonder what he would think if his queen wrote him a sonnet!

Sentimental blossoms open up in May. With all the tears and all the fears that sprinkle with dismay. The sun is warming up the earth. Now it's time for our rebirth.

Hard to explain how to explain memories Andrea; and how "reality has so become" how parts will fade,, yet others stand out so well.. and the sobering touch of age upon us.. "well done and i have written yet have not posted..) you'll just have to wait..) in the meantime gifted poet.." "God bless you "Joe..)

Moment Of Silence For Junior Seau: May 5th, 5:55 P.M. Junior Seau will certainly be missed. A great football player but a better man. He was classy, caring & courageous. He was a true competitor and a special player. God bless the Seau family.

Your Sonnet dear poet, is definitely nostalgic, and just shot the chill of remembrance to this soul ! Though not, "5-5-55"; it still has me now lingering on days of yore ! Great write Andrea ! Have a wonderful weekend, and; Cinco de mayo! And break out the Tums, if you celebrate with some of that Mexican food ! Much love, james
