Song of the Sea
The cold, salt spray bit at my face;
As I walked alone on the sand.
The dashing waves stole my footprints;
As they raced upon the land.
The sky was dark and awesome;
As ever a sky could be,
And the mighty roaring tempest,
Shared a wonderful song with me.
It sang of an all-loving father,
Who created both it and me.
I joined that song of his glory;
I shared that song with the sea.
A song of his infinite mercy,
A praise for his matchless love!
All nature rose a great chorus,
To our maker and God above.
I ran with the wind in the tempest;
My tears mingled with the rain;
As it seemed God's presence rose round me.
I could picture no trouble or pain.
A thunderous shout rose above me,
Wild as a Lion in his lair;
And the lightning wrote of his glory
As the wind tore away at my hair.
I praise my great God for his greatness,
I am glad I am one of His own;
It the beauty of earth is stupendous;
What about Heaven our home.
