Song of My Dragon
Did dragons quack?
Did dragons chirp?
Did dragons hiss and growl?
What sounds did they really make?
And were they black and brown?
My dragon’s stripes are pink and blue;
Her tongue is long and green.
She licks up bugs for breakfast
And eats snails for her tea.
She quacks and chirps
And flaps her wings
And flies above the sea.
When the moon is full and round,
It’s much too bright to sleep,
So she sings to me a lullaby in gentle Dragonese.
Across my eyes, she rests her wings - so feathery and wide,
And I dream with her of flying to an island in the sky.
