Somewhere In Texas

Somewhere down in Texas there's a water hole run dry Where a coyote stares and lingers, seems to wonder why. A memory was born near here when first was fanned the flame A memory was born near here when first I spoke her name Somewhere down in Texas shadows lengthen in the eve The creatures of the night come forth, dreams begin to weave I recall that first contact when eye to eye we gazed The crowd around us seemed to fade as we stood silent, dazed Somewhere down in Texas there are lovers 'neath the stars They share their dreams together 'tween Jupiter and Mars Perhaps those dreams they'll realize, who can say for sure Ours have faded long ago, but memories are pure Somewhere down in Texas the music still plays for those Who loved and lost but still recall that first Texas rose When memories of who we were bring a gentle sigh Like the coyote we stare, linger, seem to wonder why
