Sometimes
Sometimes I want to go somewhere
With no-one else around,
So there'd be no opportunity
For them to let me down.
Sometimes I want to be someone
Who's tough and extroverted,
So if I found myself alone
I'd never feel deserted.
Sometimes I want to dive into
A sea of silver linings,
With no trace of clouds or troubles,
Heartbreak or lovesick pinings,
Then my spirits would be high and light,
So I could never drown,
And I'd be too free and peaceful
To trade my smile for a frown.
But 'til then, on land I will remain,
Helpless to take in every blow,
But someday, when I'm someone new,
To somewhere far below I'll go.
