Something To Believe In
When I was little I use to try so hard
To believe in magic and dreams
All existed in this world
That there was a good to be seen by all
Ever slowly though, you grow up
Every person grows different
Every view becomes expanded
The beautiful girl who sat next to you,
Became the wife who never left your side
The parents you wished would leave you alone,
You wish more than ever to be taken care of by them
You were raised to be a certain way,
Your children learn what you learned
Your world will become flipped upside-down,
As everything turns sweet as honey
There is always a lemon to be had
But if you handle it right
The juice still feels good dripping off your chin
You may lose a loved one
You may die first
As long as you lived or lived in them
It was all worth it wasn’t it?
Don’t ever let your memories fade
And don’t ever lose imagination
Believe in everything you want
Magic is as real as you let it be
Some people in this world have been taught
To bring you down
And if you let them you can fall apart
As long as you keep all your pieces
Then you have not truly lost
You learn and experience life
People are not all good
With every dream comes nightmare
And all magic is not light
Hearts may break and wars may start
The endings are all yours to write
So please believe in what I say
I will believe in you
That someone will hear me
And be kind to one another,
Let love into your world
Break down these walls built from fear
Tear through the hate and bigotry
You can change everything
You just need to start
