Something Light
The sun climbs up a great big hill
To land upon my window sill.
The spider swings from tree to tree
Trying to get away from me.
The little limbs yield to the breeze
As it wanders through the trees.
A cat sneaks across the grass
Toward a mouse upon the path.
A little squirrel searching for seeds
Looks at me, his eyes say 'please.'
A sassy Jay calls me a thief
It wasn't me who stole his seeds.
A little rabbit we call Billy
Looks at us like we are silly.
An apple slice he will eat
Nod his head and cross the street.
The weeds have such pretty flowers
Then jump six inches after a shower.
The autumn trees begin to glow
And shed their pretty leaves below.
The owl wakes as evening nears
He hoot, hoot, hoots for all to hear.
The night waits and bides it's time
Waiting for the moon to shine.
As I kneel at days end
I thank you God for all my friends.
