Another month of days has passed us by We now prepare for cold November rains For veterans our hearts will sadly sigh With daylight savings time some sun we'll gain The turkey will become our welcome guest Our families and friends will visit soon We'll realize how much we're truly blessed And start to tire of constant Christmas tunes But yet for some depression will set in Because of poverty and loneliness November is the time to call on them To share the gift of hope and happiness Thanksgiving Day we'll go to God in prayer Remember those with nothing in despair. by Daniel Turner

I do so agree my friend. We should open our hearts and our home to those who are alone during the holidays. We shouldn't just sigh and say "too bad". We should make an effort to do something about it. Great job here. God Bless, JB

I am so sorry for your loss, Darlene. I spent last Christmas and Thanksgiving alone. I think this year I'm going to volunteer at the shelter. Being around people who have less will make me more appreciative. Be well my friend:)

Very true and heart tugging poem Daniel! You are going to make a lot of hearts happy volunteering for the holidays! The line that made me laugh was getting tired of the constant Christmas tunes; amen to that, lol!:)

this is very touching, daniel, and has a powerful message. it's easy to get caught up in our own lives and forget that there are so many needy people out there.

Thank you, Jan. This year, rather than sit here by myself, I am going to volunteer at the local shelter. Try to bring some cheer to those who have less than me. i appreciate your heartfelt comments. It's always my pleasure when you drop by:)

It's hard to believe the year has sped by so quickly, Daniel. Your message is filled with wisdom and truth. This may be my second Christmas in a row spent alone. If not for the Hallmark Channel, it would be heart wrenching. I don't think those turkeys want to be our guests, but I will be sharing some with my sister. An excellent poem!

Thank you, Mrs Carolyn. I spend my holidays alone. My children live out west, so this year I am planning to volunteer at the local shelter. I appreciate your kind comments.

The holidays are hard on the lonely. We all need to be a little more aware and lend a helping hand or give a kind word when we can.

Yes, but especially these holiday seasons when people seem to be in the giving spirit, we should make an attempt to help. If we each just help one person with a meal or a coat, what joy it would bring to both.
