Solstice Sonnet

Another summer solstice comes around. Another moment to assess the year. Another moment for me to check the ground and borders of my life to see them clear of the intruders that bore and dig there, looking to set up housekeeping in my soul and psyche, making it their dark lair. Once ensconced, they will crouch ready to try to devour me as the days grow shorter. Bitterness at a love that has gone bad. Loss of children I once had such hope for. Grief at the loss of talents I once had. Clear the land of these harmful sentiments, get ready to seek, find new continents!
