When I saw this contest by Line, I knew instantly, if I wrote a poem, it would have to be about the solitude I've always been able to soak in to free my deepest, truest place when surrounded by animals and nature. As a child, my solitude with nature was my 'safe haven' I would escape to, to heal my wounds of abuse and bullying and in this blissful, peaceful serenity is where I especially liked to draw, paint, and write. Hence, this poem...

In solitude I like to bask when I am all alone With only Mother Nature in company with my own. Animals and nature make welcoming to be, A serene place of peace, where I am set free. Ever since a child, when atrocities I faced, My safe haven was with nature, where I felt embraced And accepted in appearance with not a bit of shame, With no one poking fun, making foul of my name. In Solitude With Nature was my place of inspiration, Where I would draw and write in pure liberation. My canvases were painted from the beauty all around And words flowed like rivers instead of being drowned. God's Presence was surreal with no worldly intervention And His Gift began to blossom as was His Intention. My Mother's words felt real that I was a Gifted child, As she often said lovingly and too, as she smiled. With my pencil and my brush, as though a camera lens, I captured my adventures with nature and my friends. With my pen or pencil, too, I would break the chain, As words set me free from my deepest, inner pain. My Solitude With Nature is where my heart is expressed; Where I'm freest, most inspired for the Gift with I am blessed. Even when I can't return to bask in Mother Nature's solitude, My memories take me back to where the world cannot intrude. 2018-05-01 14:54:00 Written for and entered in 'The Beauty of Solitude - Poetry Contest' Sponsored by Line Gauthier

Thank you, Susan, and thank you for fav'ing. Without God, my Mother, and nature & animals, I honestly don't know where I'd be or who i might have become. This poem is surreal to me. All the best to you. :) ~ Artsie

Thank you, Elaine. I very often prefer the company of animals b/c animals accept us as we are. They don't judge us by appearance or anything else. They don't harbour the darker human traits like jealousy, revenge, etc. & they aren't fake. My daughter chose my pen name. :) All the best. ~ Artsie
