Author's Notes:  This particular write, entitled:  "Solitude" is a "Accentual Meter" type of poem.  (I classified this poem in PoetrySoup under "Free Verse" since this type of accentual metered write is not normally listed under the PS classification pick-list.)  This poem is quite interesting as it sums up of some of my specialized ideas and views on Solitude.  We all need time -- now and then -- to ourselves to contemplate events, issues, and things in our respective lives.  Enjoy this write and this particular poetic format!!  (Gary Bateman, January 27, 2015) (Accentual Meter)

Categories:  allegory, image, inspiration, introspection, metaphor, self, and spiritual.

Accentual Meter Calculation and Notes:

Parameters (3 to 6 Syllables per verse)

Range: 5 x 3 = 15 (min) / 5 x 6 = 30 (max)

Total Syllables = 129 (Out of 180 Syllables maximum possible)

Total Words = 77

Total Verses = 30

("How Many Syllables Counter" was used for syllable confirmation for both automated and manual syllable counts and cross-check.)

Solitude Walking alone Often outside In deep thought About things of Great importance. I wonder aloud Thoughts amassed Priorities now Solutions not clear Seeking inspiration. Time’s fleeting Which is always Tied to many Dynamic actions Begging resolution. I stop now— And look heavenward Solutions abound Choices are difficult I’m staying focused. Use my intuition Request divine help Do Nothing Take your pick Nothing’s easy. My soul’s focus Trust yourself— First and foremost God speaks silently Do it now! Love this poem to which I can relate; I often feel the need to be alone with my thoughts, away from it all; sought solitude is lovely and beneficial...nothing compared with enforced solitude! Good luck with your book. Have a nice weekend my friend. #7 // paul

Paul, Thanks so much for your very gracious comments here. Yes -- I'm the same way too when it comes to "solitude." It certainly helps for one to get away and clear the air at times (especially for us writers)!! I'll keep you posted on my book. I've been told it will be available by May-June 2015. I'll be glad to have this book task behind me!! Much work. Have a super weekend. Best Always, Gary

A most powerful poem here! I love the lesson it teaches us..."Time’s fleeting Which is always Tied to many Dynamic actions Begging resolution." That's my favorite stanza. Whenever I sit down to read one of your poems, I am in awe... Amazing...keep up the incredible work.. Always, Laura

Wise words Gary. We are always inspired by you. Yes this is primarily a question of trust that should be considered in the first place."Know Thyself" /"Trust Thyself" then God will be your closest friend. The bottom-line : we must prioritize God better say God first as our great sages had told eons ago. Love Gary and Ingrid. Praying to God for your success in your future endeavors.God bless Gary. Your friend rajat

Gary, what a beautiful poem you have here. It reflects what people should do whether contemplating a life changing decision...or simply trying to find a solution to an enigma. We step back, soak into God's presence, for in the silence...he speaks. Thank you dear friend. I have missed reading your wise words and hope to visit more frequently now. Hope everything's going smoothly with your book...A 7 and a fav. Kim :)
