Solid Ground

You raised me with your strong hand, and your thoughts filled me with wonder. You told so many lies like quick sand, that grabbed me and pulled me under. With greed you built your own babylon, such viscosity neath the famous citadel. My soul was terrain used to battle on, trapped forever in a fortress was my hell. I watched the blood red skies for hope, and kissed all my memories each night. I had no courage left to tie the rope, my eyes engulfed by spears of light. You scolded me with your weak hand, as there was nothing left to intercept. Not once did you believe I was grand, your poison ran through me as I slept. Look at your prodigy that you have sold, I have come to stare into your eyes. And ask you if I was worth that gold, your life I claim as my victory prize. Breathe in each of my hardened fears, feel my heartbeat pulse with madness. Taste all the dreams that ended in tears, as I bury you alive with all of my sadness.
