So This Is Retirement

People used to run to my house Call me “Mommy” Give me hugs, ask me to babysit their children I had a use These people have become strangers Their children are dating and driving No one needs me any more I have had to entertain myself At first it was art, painting, cartooning Then it was poetry and word games I am sick to death of TV What have I not seen? Every show the same as the last Yet here I sit in my recliner Gaining ten extra pounds a day clicking a button No use to anybody Especially not to myself So this is retirement Whoop Dee Doo

Oh no! Goals important! But what do I know…I just retired a few weeks ago and then got handed a Grand Jury notice. So still kind of working one day a week for a lot less money…lol

(chuckle) That's why I have retired four times. I'm really retired this time. I don't have the oomph to work. So, I sit and read and write poems. It's nice work if you can get it.

I can relate to this one, Caren! I was very happy in retirement for the first few years and now I’m getting to that “whoop de doo” place myself. (Not that I’d want to go back to work either…)

I just have the summer off and it was way too much time for me! I have been off work for one month and nine days; and I can barely stand it!
