Smiling Faces (No Friends To You)

Be careful what you do. Be careful what you say, Because some smiling faces, Are no friends to you. They’ll smile in your face, And talk behind your back. It’s hard to see, Through the very act. They look cute, About you, They act like, But don't give a hoot. To find out whom they are, Here’s what you do! Experiment on them: Step one: turn your volume on mute. Step two: stop suggestive body language, When they talk to you about you know who. Step three: watch for their response, if they Stop smiling at you, the experiment is done. Then the hateful hypothesis, Is proven correct. They leave dreary, It is no longer a theory. Quickly their smiling faces are just memories. Be careful of some smiling faces. They could be dynamite, To your well being. You ignite the flame, When you call their friend’s name. I’m telling you the truth, I have great proof. Smiling faces may lie on you. Put them on your wave list. Go on with your life. Smile for yourself Say what you what have To say to everyone. That is how you Get the job done. Be careful what you do Be careful what you say Be ready to back your, Statements and actions up. They’ll smile in your face, And slap you a negative buck. What I say is true, Some smiling faces are, No friends to you.

Very wise and insightful, Nicole. Unfortunately, we come across too many pseudo-smiling friends in our lives. I like the methodology you outline for sorting out the true friends from those who would stab you in the back. Excellent poem! Love, carolyn
