Smiling
All that matters, is what I can give.
It’s not to a friend, or even a person.
I am not valuable.
What I can do is not valuable.
Until I give it away.
Into the ether.
Where all our collective spirits go.
All I get back is a label.
And maybe some somber nodding,
But never a smile.
Oh what it would take,
To deserve a smile.
