Small Lonely Words
small lonely words
are words small lonely things,
“thought cows” roaming muddy fields,
monotonous “moo’s” droning us to sleep?
or do they await awakening
on the current of discovery’s tone
find meaning in the heart and mind,
fuel the roaring fire of the soul.
our words are neither small, nor lonely,
bound in thickened mud
they are truth that must be spoken
smiles shared, tears wiped away,
secrets hidden in phrases,
mysteries within metaphor.
they are our words,
thoughts, feelings, passions,
written on a sea of whiteness
adrift on inspiration’s endless waves
seeking but a voice to free them,
release the fervor of their dreams.
