Slipin' Away

We all have our shelf life Stamped the best before, Somewhere in the celestial book Never to be revealed Till the event. Sometimes the rule is broken And the terminal is a curtain call Of a life slipin’ away: © Harry J Horsman 2022

I don't have a best before date. I'm just getting inspired by death and dying. But with the perspective of not pretending but knowing. what the difference is , we shall see. I liked your perspective "Best Before Date" but the way things are. Is there a future to compare it too?

Time only seems important while living a physical Earthbound life. We begin in a timeless state, and without time; there is no end. I liked your poem, Harry. Something to think about, Bill

We are always at the terminal Harry yet we For one reason or another forget, one factor I Believe is the sub-conscious awareness of life Being eternal.. which we read as life can be Sustained here forever' as in sometimes we Can feel supercharged with strength I offer that Is just a touch of the limitless power of God's lifeforms we will move in once we move On (if we are in Him?)

Very well said, and profound my friend! Hi Harry; I do believe in premonition (Akashic Records -- Book of Life); I also believe in infinite scenarios -- which means, nothing cannot have a different path. May only be slightly different, not perceptible in our immediate realm of experience...yet, very significant in the greater scheme of things.

Yes Harry so sad to read the obituaries in the paper and see someone you were close to leave. It makes you think about where your spending eternal life. I believe in our Lord Jesus, he promises if we follow his commandments and believe in his son Jesus and repent of our sins , we will have everlasting life in heaven. That makes me feel more at ease as the years wind down as you cleverly said shelf life. I hope you are well my friend, I wish you a more joyful new year

Aptly said, Sir Harry. If one trusts a doctor's "prophecy," then there is a certain KNOWLEDGE ( but we know the expiry date so early in life). Love

Harry, When it's time for me to go, I've given it some thought. I hope it isn't a painful time. I really liked your poem. Blessings ~ Debra

Harry, your use of the metaphor of lifespan was very effective. And yes, when we start getting older, it's impossible not to ponder about the end of the world.

These are thoughts that are always with me, Harry. I cannot say why. Only that I lost my mother and many loved ones along the way. Every day we live is written in His book, as the good Word says. Your words are also good, dear., albeit sad. Blessings.
