Sleeping Volcano
Snow falls in quiet drifts,
covering the ground like cooled ash
where mountains rise to pierce the sky
and plunge into the mirror-lake,
unshattered.
Shores curve around smooth water
like a crescent moon in a dusky sky
dotted with snowflake-stars
where frosted sighs float silently,
rising like puffs of smoke
to join the muted clouds above.
