Sleeping Hopeful
A childhood daydream away
From a misty castle in the clouds
My father spoke words of yesterday
Hidden in my ear
Don’t you know clouds don’t stay?
They can’t understand the wind
A smiling happiness to sway
Will push them in a rabbit hole
I never knew of a moment more calm
Wrapped up in a blanket with
The world a globe in my palm
Chasing dandelion seeds for a memory
But when my tiny world shook
The globe dropped to the floor
And the flowers had no shining look
So I found solstice in my father's words
The sun will not forget the earth
And you will not forget to stand
You fly towards your worth,
Constellations on your heart
I nodded off to sleep once more,
The thunderstorm had passed
My world no longer on the floor
And my innocence at rest.
