Skyline Drive

Skyline Drive by Kevin Robey April 24, 2014 I laid to waste The things I hate Upon the gate Of my escape I Found the door And stole the key They wanted more It wasn't free I found the light It blinded me They weren't bright Those memories But it isn't real It's not a dream Just what I feel Between the seams I'll never leave My insanity But when I breathe I can almost see This isn't hell That much I know I'll never sell I'll take it slow The time has come To photograph The passing sun My better half I'll stay in time While you pass me by I'll cross the line So we say goodbye Don't need to justify Why you fight alone Laws we couldn't defy This battle is our own Soul mates never die But that never was you We'll always be allies My friend, I hope it's true Two souls intertwined Ive had it all along Ten years inside our minds A place we both belong I stopped looking back To hold the broken past My bright eyes never black I'll find some peace at last Light refracts behind frosted glass Looking outside this long bus ride Too cold out there but this will last It's warm in here so come inside Just one more time... [finished this on a bus in Arkansas, passing the exit for "skyline drive", which became the title]
