Skipping Stone

I was just thinking of my memories The good, bad the happy and sad The ones I wish I could forget But never will The ones I wish I could remember But never can The people I have loved and lost My memories are full of people who shared my dreams But found themselves lost in my nightmare Though the nightmare was no less Than a dream in itself As a stone skips across the water Sometimes the emptiness overwhelms me As the memories are close enough for me to taste. Yet forever out of reach Lost in the darkness created by my addictions For my memories were too much to bear And I just had to forget The guilt of my own shame And I was so confused that I thought the needle Was taking away my pain When it was the very thing that created it As a stone skips across the water I ask of you dear Lord What am I to be? He replied, “Mike you are the stone skipping out to me” I don’t know exactly what that means But I reckon someday I will Until then all I can say The Lord and I are skipping still For everyday is a memory and tomorrow is a dream And I am just a simple stone skipping down the stream

Mr Jordan- Your commitment to writing is good. As a person changes his heart his writings will follow. It is a combination of experience heart mind and soul. I value respect greatly just like inprison. If a man does not respect a woman or another mans woman he needs to change his heart to gain the respect that he longs for for example. Each word that comes out of someones breath is of the outmost importance because that tells you the reasons why he said it. Keep working on respect. Good luck

hi Michael, you went deep down to the bottom of the ocean with this one, as I said your writes pull one in like, you are being told the greatest story of all times, you write what you are and have been in the past and that makes for the greatest story ever told, you never know how what you pen is going to affect someone else, it definitely will not harm anyone, and you have a story that needs to be heard, say it loud I am a living example that giving your life over to God is the greatest gift, D

Michael this is wonderful. I like your use of metaphor in this poem. The theme is right on point. Keep skipping with God. He will guide your feet. I like how the poem is reinforced with the theme. The personification is excellent. Great job! ~Joseph

I love this one! Thank you for your kind sweet words about my poems! You will never know how much they mean to me! I do have a book put together, it's called "I Believe I Can Fly"--but of course trying to find a publisher is a whole different story--you have to find someone who believes you can fly as well!

"Just a simple stone, skipping down the stream" I like this finish. Memories are just with us. All too easy to say, forget the past, the time is now. I think you definitely have the right philosophy. Love, Daver

You're skipping out in the right direction. You might hit a few rough bounces but your destination will be intact. God Bless. Vince

What a beautiful way to express your reaching out to God, Michael. You have such a marvelous way to show each of us what is in your heart, and those experiences you've encountered along the way, will make a difference. I believe that God has a plan for you to use your life to teach. God Bless ~ Carrie
