Sitting By the Fire

I went over to a friend’s house to sit by a fire. The heat penetrates, quenching my desire. I watch as the flames grow strong and true, They are much like the fire that burns inside you. I stand for a while but it gets rather hot. I drift to a dream; I’m on a mountain top. I look down and see a miniature world below. The more I learn, the more I want to know. I sit down beside it, It crackles and pops. As the ambers grow hotter it simple just stops. I watch as the flames devour all the wood. The heat they provide feels so good. We have a drink and start to chat. There is no other place I would rather be at. I feel this peace grow inside of my heart. I just want to stay and never depart. My eyes grow heavy and it’s time to go. The peace within me continues to grow. I don’t know of tomorrow, or what it shall show, I’m just happy today, of this I do know…
