Simple
It was simple
To meet you
All over again
Standing outside,
In that green world of summer….
It was simple to share lunch
And remember
The small thoughts
Of years that disappeared
Like lightning,
Until your fragmented
Self
Bobbed up
To the surface
Exposing
Scars from each deep wound
When you asked me
To do your homework
And piled it at my feet
All unfinished statements
Of fear
And love
That swam away
Like a trio
Of baby otters
Until your choice
Became a destiny
You had to carry like bricks
Into the next life.
