Silver Strands
Each silver strand has a story to tell
I watched them all appear
As that dark haired beauty of a bride I took
Journeyed with me through the years
The first long streak of silver hair
Made the scene on that tragic day
When a driver who had too much to drink
Sent her wonderful father on his way
The second strand – on the other side
Came after a night of angst and pain
But her labor resulted in our first born son
To whom we gave her father’s name
There are strands there from the measles
And strands when I lost my job
Strands from the world’s upheavals
And strands from the night that we got robbed
But each flowing strand of silver hair
Helps frame that beautiful face
Of the brave and courageous woman
Who in my heart always has a place
