Silent Night
Shouting and screaming
are the sounds that come from the house
So much hate swirls around the air
like a hurricane bound to hit land
Getting out of the home helps
Walking outside
into the chilly night
Letting myself breathe in
the crisp, cool air
Outside,
silent and peaceful
an escape from the nightmare inside
Silence is all around me
a blanket of comfort
Sitting by the big, beautiful lake
I enjoy the silence
Looking inside the translucent windows
it is quiet
A compromise must have been made
for the time being
Inside the big house
it is silent
