Silent Guides
Scattered abroad
universally recognized
ornate and colorful
standing tall and silent
anchored aground
on strips of land
jutting into the sea.
Sending light
into the darkness
cutting half-circles
through blackness
Sweeping beams
warning unwary sailors
of low tides and danger.
