Silence Felled Lurking in dark corners The swamp stirs in the night As the deceiver rises Begging to share his illusions might Only behind the veil Does he let his murky words sail Deceiving the lady of the house While he runs like a little mouse He drinks a mans ale Then double crosses once stale Armies can’t fight the silent one He hides in the corners of your mind Draw blood with your pen Let him flow towards the hither end The skeleton can’t do much with his quill Stabbed of his devious will

I'm not sure how I missed commenting on this one...must have been out of town. I'll agree with Gary's assessment that this is a superb write, one that causes people to interpret it in so many different ways. Everyone seems to be fave crazy these days since the silly rating scale no longer exists, so I'll mark it with my 'x' too.

Hello Arthur, This verse is truly superb!! Very descriptive imagery which exudes a very subtle and powerful metaphorical picture. I believe Silent One would like this one immensely. I know I do. A FAVE!! Cheers and Best, Gary

Isn't it wonderful that 6 weeks after the Silent One has left that you poets are still writing poems about him.? Indeed, he is an incredible poet isn't he?...Maria

That title is captivating. Yes, silence fells, felled. It can be extremely painful. Your last stanza is a gem.
