Side Path

There is a path in my garden set that if you don't look, if you are not adventurous you wouldn't know it was there, but it is. It winds and curls just beyond the red roses under the pear and plum down sloping along the black eyed susies just pass the daylilies and the mint. The slope itself sometimes flood from rain deepening the path and keeping it free of weeds as the lilacs stretch out with the roses and catch your sleeve to direct your walk The path continues far back along the fence where a palette of rose of sharons bloom in their pinks and reds and whites and on occasion a purple shade of blue. There unexpectedly the yard opens up and the pond gurgles with life as oranges, whites and yellow swim up with the gaping open mouth of fish. The side path suddenly disappears but you can find it again you just have to take a walk and look but for me, I always know just where it is.
