Shut You Down

Take a look in the water Put your ear to the ground Who’ll be there to help you When they come to shut you down Shut you down Shut you down Shut you down So who’ll be there to save you When they come to shut you down You don't like that speaking It offends your sense of taste It violates the way you Take the bread and say the grace Dear father, take that statue And lay it on the ground You wouldn’t want them beat you When they come to shut you down Shut you down Shut you down Shut you down So who’ll be there to save you When they come to shut you down Censoring is absolute – It cuts across the aisle Many a man been taken down By its condescending smile It leave you in the darkness Yes it bury you in the vault And but for that immovable boulder, You’d cry, “Someone else’s fault!” The hypocrisy of ages Don’t do much to instruct If words became our cages, I’d say that we’re all…screwed Shut you down Shut you down Shut you down So who’ll be there to save you When they come to shut you down
