Shroud
I remember a long time ago
When I met you.
You were bright back then,
Always thinking things were
Better than they could possibly be.
I wish I could go back now,
To when we were together.
We laughed and cried,
We dreamed and failed,
But never did you lose hope
That things could be better.
But then, out of nowhere,
All that brightness disappeared,
And a shadow appeared over you.
Then I tried to be the bright one.
It seemed like that forever
I wore a fake smile,
But I was as worried
That I would never see you
Bright and happy again.
I tried and tried to help you
Get back on your feet,
But you refused to be helped.
Darkness clouded your mind
And obscured your vision,
To the point where I didn’t know
Who I was really talking to.
It wasn’t working at all...
And it never did.
Because the day you got the chance,
You ran away from here.
You bolted to the forest,
As the moon touched the night sky.
I followed and tried to stop you,
But it was all in vain.
You were too far ahead,
And I could do nothing
To get you back,
As you went over the mountains,
To a place I’ll never meet.
I sat down and cried,
Tears of sorrow and loss,
For I was now alone here,
At the edge of nowhere,
Lost and scared,
For both of us...
Well, I guess it’s time
To let go of it,
Because I can’t go back.
I say my goodbyes
To your stone,
Your place of rest,
As I too become dull.
Sequel/Prequel to Cosmos
Not nearly as good though
